17th Day of Craftsmas // Homemade Cranberry Sauce

I'm not lying when I say, this is very easy to make. It is so easy, in fact, you don't have to buy it canned. You can make it either perfectly smooth or with the fruit still intact. It's a matter of preference. For a little added festiveness I put in a knob of fresh ginger root. Imagine showing up to your family thing with homemade cranberry sauce.

Ingredients:

• 1 package fresh cranberries

• 1 cup of sugar

• 1 cup of water

• 1 inch knob of fresh ginger, sliced

Directions:

In a medium saucepan combine all the ingredients over medium heat and bring to a simmer. Allow to simmer for 10 minutes, stirring it every now and then. For smooth sauce, push it through a fine mesh strainer or don't and leave the cranberries whole. Pour into a bowl and let it come to room temperature. Chill until ready to serve.
