Eating In // Breakfast in Bed & A Chocolate Waffle Recipe

One of the quickest ways to make someone feel special is to bring them a tray of delicious fresh waffles and steaming coffee right to their bed as soon as they wake up. If everything goes according to plan, your darling one will awaken as soon as you walk through the door with said breakfast. Already everyone is in a good mood; both the giver and the receiver. You bring the treats in and all thats left to do is to enjoy each other and your chocolate waffles. *Note: we did spill a small bit of waffles on the bed. Still worth it.

Ingredients:

Makes About 12 waffles

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 stick of butter, melted
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 4 eggs

For the glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream (Combine the two ingredients. If it's too thick add more cream)

Directions:

1. Preheat your waffle iron. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt.

2. Combine the eggs, milk, butter and whisk until blended.

3. Stir in the dry ingredients and the chocolate chips.

4. Pour about 1/4 cup of batter into the waffle iron and cook until the waffles are slightly crisp.

5. Serve with the glaze and whip cream (optional, but delicious).
