Entertaining // Melon Skewers

Lately we have been on a bit of a melon kick over here on GMJ. After all, it is the perfect warm weather fruit. It's light and fresh and crisp. Here is a recipe you can use for any springtime or summer entertaining you may have on the books.

Ingredients:

Yields about 20 skewers

  • 1/2 small watermelon
  • 1/2 cantaloupe
  • 1/2 honeydew
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh mint
  • juice and zest of 1 lemon

Directions:

  1. Cut the melons in half and cut the peel off of them. Cube the melons into about 1/2" cubes. In a medium bowl mix the warm water and sugar together with the lemon juice and mint.
  2. Gently stir the melons in with syrup and allow to chill for a few hours.
  3. Grab some bamboo skewers and layer the cube three at a time. Serve immediately or chill until ready to serve.
