Eating In // Homemade Granola

Of all the items one could purchase at the store ready made, granola is not one of them. It really is easy to make and it's easy to make it healthier than what you find in the store. Ok, so let's get started.

The Goods:

  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup melted coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 chopped nuts (pecans, walnuts, almonds, whatever.)

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees*. Stir all of the ingredients together except for the nuts.
  2. Pour the mixture onto a baking sheet. Stirring every 10 minutes, bake for about 30 minutes. Throw the nuts in for the last 5 minutes of baking. Allow to cool and then sprinkle it over some yogurt or something.

* There are two ways to you could make it: low and slow, or higher heat. It's easier to burn if you bake it at a higher temp, but it's faster. If you want to bake it slow, put it at 300 degrees, bake it for an hour, and stir every 15 minutes.
